Happy 7th birthday caroline

Caroline’s Memory Continues to Grow

On May 4, 2017 at 6:05 a.m., Caroline Olivia Marshall was born. She weighed 4 pounds, 15 ounces and was 18 1/2 inches in length. She was beautiful. Caroline was diagnosed with Trisomy 13 in the first trimester, so we knew she wouldn’t be able to stay long. She passed peacefully in our arms 2 hours after she was born at 37 weeks. We loved on Caroline every minute of her life. We think of her always. We miss her always. But her memory continues to grow where love carries on.

7 years later

So much has happened since that day in May. Caroline gained two siblings — Brock and Charlotte. It’s difficult to put into words the joy we felt when we held them both for the first time. They are lights that have illuminated so much darkness from our lives. Yet as they grow each day, we find ourselves thinking of Caroline’s missed milestones. These moments remind us that we have not forgotten about her. The memories let us feel her again.

We continue to support A Memory Grows in all their endeavors. The mission has tremendously expanded since Caroline. The past two years, AMG has reached a host of new parents including those who have suffered losses by suicide, overdose, and those who lost their children in the Robb Elementary shooting in Uvalde, Texas. From miscarriage and infant loss to adult child loss, AMG is there to remember and honor all of the children whose lives were too short. Life is hard. Grief is dark. In the midst of darkness, there is light. And love, love always carries on.

A Memory Grows is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that serves as an outreach to grieving parents and as a resource to hospitals, clinics, hospice groups, churches, and other nonprofit organizations. Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide a space of healing and peace for parents who are grieving the death of a child. By bringing together those who have experienced a similar loss in a retreat setting, we honor and celebrate our children while making connections with others who truly understand our journey.
